The first day at Durban

10:00 am: The lobby of the Bel Air Hotel starts to get agitated; clearly the dancers are making good use of the continental breakfast. Scrambled eggs, toasts, coffee and several sweets are devoured while we plan the activities for the day; there`s too much to see but tight schedules to be followed.

At last we all agree, final destination: Victoria Market. Shopping has become one of our musts on tour, unfortunately we didn`t expect the inconvenience of taking a taxi in Durban, you may arrive faster to the locations riding on a turtles back.
3:00 pm: By this time we are all lost in the city, carrying bags and hungry because we decided to go back to the hotel by feet. Although it is the beginning of spring in Africa, Durban is really hot. No mercy for the poor dancers who will be picked up at the hotel within one hour.
7:30 pm: The show is about to start, we did manage to get back in time and get some fast food on our way. Digest the corrections from the first show and say ‘hi’ to the monkeys that live in the trees nearby and whom we`ve been secretly feeding in our spare hours at the theatre. There`s more energy in the air today and we feel more confident with the stage, so.. raise the curtain!!

The performance went super, and the audience was delighted. To celebrate, David, a man of the musical theatre world in South Africa has invited us to dinner at club 199. Some new fans and friends that we made after the show and people from the festival are joining us tonight, after that, open bar… and the following is all very loud, fun and privacy of the crew; sorry ;).
